WAYS - Tools to Bring to Workdays

Because you’ll be using your own tools at your worksite, you need to determine which tools to bring with you according to your assignment.

All Participants Bring
(Each person must bring the following regardless of work experience or site assignment!)

  • Safety goggles (required for every participant)
  • Work gloves
  • Sturdy shoes

DEPENDING ON YOUR ASSINGMENT BRING THE FOLLOWING:

Painting
  • Each Person Bring
    • Paint Scraper and/or wire brush
    • Masking Tape (1 roll)
    • Small, medium or large paintbrushes
    • Standard screwdriver
  • As a Group Bring
    • Broom
    • Drop cloths (1 for every person)
    • Dust masks (1 for every person)
    • Ladders (much needed/always in short supply)
    • Paint buckets (1 for every 2 people)
    • Rags (1 box)
    • Stepladders
    • Paint rollers (if available)
    • Paint trays (if available)
  • Medium, Advanced, and Professional Experience Participants Bring
    • Extension Handles
    • Razor Blades

Identifying Tools
  • Mark tools so they’ll be easy to identify if lost.
  • Suggested methods for marking tools: permanent markers, adhesive tape, spray paint, engraving, and etching.
