WAMS helps hundreds of families and individuals to improve their lives every year while rebuilding entire residential neighborhoods over time. We begin by pooling the volunteer energy and financial resources of our partner churches through innovative programs that were the first in the nation to be recognized by the National Council of Churches for 'best practice public ministry'.
Working together through the Community Ministries Fund, for example, congregations help to shape such efforts as tutoring and mentoring, ESL, music and art enrichment, gang intervention, parenting skills, and job training. Working through the Community Investment Program, congregations help to develop stable and family-friendly neighborhoods by turning around troubled properties for sale to first time homebuyers.
The result? As one inner city resident said: "We used to be afraid to have our children walk from the school-bus stop back to our house. Now we feel we have a little piece of heaven on earth."
WAMS' broad array of programs in Central Massachusetts , MetroWest, and New Orleans can help your church to achieve its mission objectives and your members to experience the joy of Christian discipleship. If you are ready to take your mission program beyond the ordinary, please put WAMS' energy and commitment to work for your congregation.
